Prosecutors: Russian military officer stole airstrip

A?defense official in central Russia sold off the concrete making up?a military airstrip for a $33,000 bribe, rending the airfield useless, the Russian news agency?RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday, citing state prosecutors.

Andrei Usok, a?procurement specialist with the Defense Ministry,?sold some?4,000 slabs of concrete?at the Byransk region landing field to an unnamed company,?RIA Novosti reported. The news outlet called the move "taking corruption to new heights."

The officer,?RIA Novosti said,?is facing up to 12 years behind bars?and a large fine in?the case.
